5 Fun Songs to Teach English Grammar and Vocabulary

In this post, I’d like to share a few songs I’ve created to help me teach English grammar and vocabulary.

All the songs were generated with the help of AI (Suno), but I wrote all the lyrics myself. I can’t sing or compose music, but I do know what my students need to learn. So, I decided to give it a try and create some lyrics that would help them practise English in a fun and memorable way.

The results have been surprisingly good! My students enjoy the songs, and I’ve found them particularly useful when introducing new grammar points or revising vocabulary.

Here are the first five songs I’d like to share with you. I hope you and your students enjoy them!

1. Adverbs Song

Grammar song

Topic: Adverbs and adverb formation

This song is a great way to introduce adverbs to your students. It includes plenty of examples, so learners can easily recognise what adverbs are and see how they are usually formed.

What’s more, the song is catchy and upbeat, and my students really enjoy listening to it!

If you want your students to listen and complete the lyrics, you can find a free worksheet in the file below:

You can find some more activities to teach adverbs here.

2. What Am I Going to Do? – Be Going To Song

Grammar song

Topic: Future plans and intentions – be going to

In this song, a boy is wondering what he is going to do in the future. His friends all have plans, but he hasn’t got any!

As a result, the song is full of examples of be going to in different forms. Once again, it’s upbeat, positive and catchy – and my students love it!

Listen to the song:

In the file, you will find the lyrics as a gap-fill exercise.

If you need to explain the difference between will and be going to to your students, you can find more materials here.

3. What Are You Doing Tonight? – Future Arrangements Song

Topic: Present continuous for future arrangements

For a long time, I really disliked teaching future arrangements. I found it difficult to explain the grammar in a way that would make it clear to my students.

However, after introducing this song into my lessons, I noticed that my students started understanding the structure much faster and more easily!

The song provides a fun and memorable introduction to using the present continuous to talk about future arrangements.

4. Our House – Vocabulary Song

Vocabulary song

Topic: Parts of a house

I don’t create vocabulary songs very often, but I think this short and catchy song is a great way to practise vocabulary related to houses.

Your students will hear and practise words such as hedge, balcony, living room, bathroom, garage, garden, basement and attic, along with many others.

It’s a simple activity that can help students remember new vocabulary while enjoying some music.

I haven’t got any exercises for this song, but if you need more materials, you can find Furniture vocabulary here.

5. I Want to Live My Life – Should Grammar Song

Grammar song

Topic: Giving advice – should

This is another grammar song. I use it to introduce the modal verb should and help students become familiar with its use when giving advice.

Listen to the song:

Once again, there is no gap-fill exercise for this song, but you can find Should, ought to and had better – other ways to give advice post here.

Moreover, I love using this comedy explanation for this grammar and the song serves only as an introduction to this grammar.

Conclusion

These are the first five songs and videos I’ve been using to teach English grammar and vocabulary in my lessons.

I hope you find these songs useful, too! Feel free to use them in your lessons, download the worksheets and let your students sing along.

I’ll be publishing another post soon with the rest of the songs and videos I’ve created recently, so stay tuned!

Happy teaching!
